


Speaking on the abrogation of Article 370, the politician had recently said that a reversal could only be brought about with a Supreme Court verdict or a decision by the ruling government. The senior members of the Jammu and Kashmir Congress had called for a change of party leadership in the union territory. The remarks came mere weeks after around 20 Azad loyalists resigned while calling for reform.

Now, while the former Chief Minister insists that he is not forming a new party, he has also infused a note of uncertainty into the situation. Nobody, he told NDTV, could predict what would happen next in politics. More recently, he had also weighed in unfavourably about the Congress' chances of making a major comeback in the 2024 elections. New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has held a series of meetings across Jammu and Kashmir in recent days, prompting murmurs that he might exit the party in the near future. One of the dissident 'G-23 leaders', the former Rajya Sabha MP had written to Sonia Gandhi last year calling for an overhaul of the party.
